Jerry Lee Lewis' Estate Sale
Lucky fans of Jerry Lee Lewis were able to attend an estate sale on the singer's ranch June 24th. Items for sale included clothes worn by the singer (including a jacket from the Class of 55 priced at $15,000), vintage records and even a Rolls Royce. Fans came from as far away as Germany and Australia for a chance to own one of Lewis's items.
We especially loved this Facebook post on the sale's page from Jo Angela Moses of Olive Branch, MS:
How Much Would You Pay For A Lock Of David Bowie's Hair?
A snippet of the singer's blonde hair sold for $18,750 in an auction last month held by Heritage Auctions. The lock of hair came from Wendy Farrier, an employe at Madame Tussauds who received his hair in order to create a matching wig for his wax figure at the museum.
June's Most Controversial Auction
NPR is calling it a great big Gangster Garage Sale, families of the victims are struggling with the idea that an auction might glamorize this mobster's crimes, the U.S. Marshals are looking at it as a way to compensate the families of those who lost love ones to the owner's crime. In the end the auction raised $109,295 dollars for the victims' families.
